Learn about Precast, earn Continuing Education Credit and get a free lunch with KP’s Lunch and Learn Program.
Kerkstra Precast offers many lunch and learn programs in order to introduce you and your company to precast-prestressed products along with Kerkstra Precast’s services. Our Lunch and Learn presentations all provide AIA-HSW, SD continuing education credits and some count toward the sustainable design credits. Our sales or engineering staff will come to your office, bring lunch and present a 45 minute presentation on the topic of your choice!
Topics Include:
Precast Concrete Solutions – Integrated Design
Participants will be introduced to all aspects of precast concrete. An overview of the manufacturing process, erecting process, and each precast product will be presented. Sustainable attributes of precast concrete will be discussed along with the design flexibility and long term benefits of precast concrete. This is a great presentation for any level design professional looking to learn more about precast concrete. This presentation does count towards AIA’s sustainable design requirement.
Hollowcore Design & Construction
Participants will learn the basics of hollowcore concrete floors and walls including fire safety, acoustic properties, maintenance needs, speed of construction, and environmental properties (indoor & outdoor).
Precast Insulated Wall Panels
Participants will learn the construction techniques and finish options for Insulated Concrete Wall Panels. Topics covered include: types of insulated walls, architectural applications, manufacturing process, energy efficiency, LEED applications, and much more.
Precast Concrete Design for Schools
Participants will learn the basics of designing school buildings using precast/prestressed concrete. Topics discussed include, the flexibility of design using precast concrete, acoustic properties, fire safety, indoor environmental properties of concrete, maintenance needs, life cycle costs, speed of construction, and outdoor environmental properties (LEED)
Precast Truss System
Participants will learn the features and benefits of a total precast structure that is constructed with a brand new, patented precast truss system. The precast concrete truss system opens up many possibilities in the design and construction of a building that combines parking, retail, and living all in one. The truss system allows for alternating floors to be free of obstructions from columns and opens the space up for countless possibilities.
Precast/Prestressed Parking Garage Design
Participants will learn the basics of precast concrete parking structures. Participants will also discuss, personal safety issues (lighting), fire safety properties, and the environmental benefits (LEED) of precast concrete.
Precast Stadium Design & Construction
Participants will learn the basics of designing athletic stadiums using precast/prestressed concrete. Topics discussed include: the flexibility of design using precast concrete, acoustic properties, fire safety, personal safety issues, maintenance needs, life cycle costs, speed of construction, and outdoor environmental properties (LEED).
Precast Plant Tours
Participants will observe first-hand how designs and engineering details are executed in the precast manufacturing process. They will also observe the entire precast and prestressed manufacturing process from engineering and connections, forms set-up, casting and finishing.
